The export market is increasing of the country’s pharmaceutical industry for the improvement in quality and production efficiency. In 2001, the product was exported to 17 countries. Currently Bangladesh is exporting medicine in 95 countries. Due to the increase in the number of drugs exporting continuously for several years, the country earn more in this sector.

According to the Department of Drug Administration, last year, 38 pharmaceutical companies of the country exported more than BDT 733 crores of drugs to 95 countries in the world. These medicines have been exported to countries like Australia, United States of America, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Spain, New Zealand, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy and Japan and more.

According to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), Bangladesh exported $ 4.82 million in 2011-12 financial year. In the next financial year, the export earnings increased from this sector to $5.88 million. In the last financial year (2013-14) the income has increased to 6.82 million dollars. Bangladesh also exported 5.91 million dollars in 10 months (July-April) of the current financial year already.

Experts say some of the companies are making international standard medicines. In the meantime, a number of companies have received the certification of developed countries. In addition to these, the number of drug exports is increasing in other countries besides these.

You can’t find any multi-national organization within top 10 position. This matter indicates the powerful pharmaceutical marketing skill as well as product quality of the local companies. As the result this factor play significant role to developing the pharmaceutical industries.
