On October 31, 1977, The rural electrification board was formed through an ordinance to implement rural electrification activity. Gradually started the program for electrification across the country. Initially, 13 rural power companies were formed in the country and among them, Dhaka Rural Electrification Association-1 became the first association on December 13, 1978. They started commercial distribution on June 2, 1980.

The Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (Palli Bidyut Samity) has been playing a positive role in improving the quality of life and promotion of livelihood for the expansion of agricultural, industrial and commercial areas of the region.

In order to make the society financially self-sufficient, it is necessary to take all the relevant issues related to the development of the society through the proper use of power in all possible areas, including regular electricity connection, paying regular electricity bills of all the valued subscribers, helping to prevent theft of transformers and cooperating with the daily work of the society.
