The Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education in Bangladesh are the main Education Board Bangladesh for regulating the secondary and higher secondary education. They are in charge for executing the exams for the Higher Secondary (School) Certificate (H.S.C), the Secondary School Certificate (S.S.C), the Dakhil and Alim level public examinations.
There are 8 regional education boards of Bangladesh. They are Barisal, Comilla, Chittagong, Dhaka, Jessore, Rajshahi, Sylhet and Dinajpur. Additionaly there are the Madrasah Board as well as the Technical Board. In 1985 Dakhil level was provided the standard of education of SSC. And also in 1987 Alim level was granted the standard of education of HSC in a change of the overall education system. The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Chittagong began it’s activity in 1995. It is an independent and self-managing authority in the area of educational management and administration. Considering the expanding demand for both quantitative and qualitative education in country, the Chittagong board is hoping to build up it as a good education center. The Jessore Education Board Bangladesh (BISE) was established for Khulna division in 1963.
